How to Wire Puck Lights
- 1). Determine where you'll place your puck lights. Since puck lights are commonly used in shelves or cabinets to illuminate objects, be sure to position them so that they'll direct their light onto the location you want to illuminate.
- 2). Install the mounting rings for the lights at the locations you've chosen for them. The mounting ring will have a hole in it for the wiring to run into. Position this hole on the back, out of view--this will make it harder to see the wiring running to the light.
- 3). Cut your first length of wire to match the distance from your 120-volt wall plug (or transformer if a 12-volt DC system) to the first light. Clamp the plug onto the wire following the specific instructions of your puck light's manufacturer and plug it into the first puck light.
- 4). Cut the second length of wire to match the distance from your first light to the second and clamp on plugs to either end. Plug this wire between the first and second lights.
- 5). Repeat Step 4 until you've connected all the lights in your installation (be sure to check the specifications from the manufacturer on how many lights you can install together). Use cable clamps to tack the wires to the bottom of the shelf or cabinet so they're out of view.
