How to Remove a Leaking Copper Plumbing Joint
- 1). Locate the water main shut-off valve and turn it to the off position to stop of the flow of water through the leaky pipe joint.
- 2). Place a catch pan under the pipe to catch water as it flows out of the joint when you make your cuts.
- 3). Grip the copper pipe where one end of the joint solders to the pipe with your copper pipe cutter and then rotate the handle of the cutter to cut through the pipe.
- 4). Grip the copper pipe where the other end of the joint solders to the pipe with your copper pipe cutter and then rotate the handle of the cutter to cut through the pipe. This removes the leaky joint form the copper pipes.
