    Fall Alphabet Walk

    • Take the students for a walk outside and point out things that indicate the season, such as falling leaves, red leaves, pine cones, pumpkins and apples. As you point these out, ask the students to name the letter that each object starts with. Alternatively, you can name a letter and see if students can find items that start with that letter.

    Fall File Folder Games

    • File folder games are simple learning games that you keep in file folders. You can have several folders of games, allowing students to find one that fits their interests. Stuff your file folder games area with games with a fall theme. For example, you could create a game where students must separate paper turkey feathers with vowels printed on them from the ones with consonants printed on them, then put the feathers onto a paper turkey. You could also have a game with uppercase and lowercase letters inside apples requiring students to match the letters.

    Fall Word Scrambles

    • For slightly older students, create fall word scrambles. Choose words that relate to the season--Halloween, pumpkin, apple pie and leaves, for example--and scramble the letters. Have students unscramble the letters to create the right words.

    Fall Bingo

    • Give each student a different sheet with a fall-themed word on it. Show alphabet flash cards one at a time. If that letter on the flash card appears in the student's word, he crosses it out. The student that crosses out all of the letters in his word first is the winner. Play this until everyone has crossed out the letters in their words.

    Fall Letter Collage

    • Print out papers that have a large bubble letter in the center--bubble letters are wide versions of letters. Students fill the letter with a fall item that they collect during an outdoor walk or that you brought in for them to use. Try to match the letter with the items that you're gluing inside. For example, you could print the letter "L" and have students fill it with crushed leaves or you could print the letter "P" and have students fill it with pumpkin seeds.
