How to Make Spirit T-Shirts

    • 1). Iron letters on to the back of your spirit shirt that spell out your name, nickname or school name. You could also use numbers -- such as your graduation date -- if you desire.

    • 2). Stick a piece of cardboard in between the front and back layers of the T-shirt and lay the shirt, with the front facing up, on your work surface. This will provide a solid surface and keep the fabric paint from leaking on to the back of the spirit shirt.

    • 3). Make decorations on the shirt using fabric paints and paint pens. Write the name of your school and a slogan or saying on the shirt.

    • 4). Decorate the shirt with other embellishments. Using fabric glue, attach ribbons in your school colors, rhinestones and glitter to the spirit shirt. Alternately, tie ribbons through the sleeves of the shirt and tie a bow at the top of each shoulder.

    • 5). Allow the paint and glue to dry before removing the cardboard from the shirt.
