How to Make Your Own Trendy Chandelier
- 1). Cut two 24-inch lengths from 18-gauge silver-tone or copper wire, using wire snips. Twist the wire so there is a loop in the center of each piece.
- 2). Place one loop over the rim of a baby food jar. Pull the ends of the wire to tighten the loop securely around the jar. Place the other wire around the jar so the crossed ends are opposite the first wire. Pull tight.
- 3). Twist the corresponding ends of each wire together four to six times so they are securely fastened. The twisted portion must sit snug to the rim to support the jar. Repeat the wiring process for the remaining jars. The amount of jars necessary depends on the size of your frame and the look you want.
- 4). Thread glass beads onto the wire ends, if desired. Twist, spiral or curl two of the wire ends, as desired, to create the design you want.
- 5). Pull the two straight ends of wire up. Twist them together 4 inches above the top of the jar to create a hanger.
- 6). Rest a broom handle over two chair backs. Hang the chandelier frame on the broom handle so you can work on the chandelier while it is hanging at a manageable height.
- 7). Twist the wire hangers around the chandelier frame to secure the jars in place. Some frames have holes to attach the wire, while others require you to wrap the wire around the framework.
- 8). Thread the glass beads of your choice onto nylon thread or fishing line. Make the bead string three times as long as the diameter of the frame. Decorate a string for each tier of a multitiered frame.
- 9). Attach one end of the beaded string to the frame, placing it between two hanging jars. Wire the end around the frame or through a hole in the frame, depending on the frame style.
- 10
Drape the beaded string so it hangs below a jar, and attach it at the next space between jars. Continue draping and attaching the string until you work you way back to the beginning point. - 11
Place a votive candle in each jar. Hang the chandelier securely in the desired location.
