Compare Electric Lawnmowers
- 1). Research the difference between corded and cordless electric lawnmowers. Corded lawnmowers are limited by the length of the cord unless you use heavy duty extension cords. Cordless models can weigh a lot more, sometimes up to 30 pounds more, but do not require a cord to operate.
- 2). Find out how long the swath is for the electric lawnmowers you're comparing. The swath is the size of the width the mower can cut. Most will be between 18 and 20 inches.
- 3). Pay attention to how the clippings are dispersed. With electric lawnmowers, they can be dispersed from the side or rear. Some have bags that the clippings can be deposited into, while others offer a mulching feature so the clippings can be cut up and re-dispersed onto the lawn.
- 4). Practice pushing the lawnmower. If possible, check out the electric lawnmowers you're comparing in person. Try to push the floor models to see how easy or difficult it is for you. Weight and quality of the wheels will affect your ability to easily push the mower.
- 5). Look over the other features while checking out the electric lawnmower. Make sure you can easily reach the controls, especially the start and emergency stop, and that the handle is comfortable and easy to grip.
