Kings and emperors have long sought out the Alchemist, the brilliant and secretive scientist who can turn lead into gold.
Edward Elric and his brother Alphonse are two such scientists, great Alchemists who believe they can do the impossible and bring the dead back to life. But as with anything in the Universe, there must always be balance, and it is a lesson that Edward and Alphonse learn the hard way.

Our main character Edward Elric is a young alchemy genius, certified by the State when he was only 12 years old. Hot-tempered and impatient, he is balanced by his brother Alphonse, a more caring and nurturing character and the only person with some influence (albeit limited) over Edward's temper.
Fullmetal Alchemist premiered on DVD in January 2005 and was picked up by Adult Swim soon after. Looks like Edward and Alphonse have had quite a ride.
