How to Back Load an iPod to a Mac Computer
- 1). Plug your iPod into your Mac normally and wait for iTunes to launch. Select the iPod from the iTunes menu on the left-hand side of the window. Click on the "Music" tab and check the "Enable Disk Use" box. Eject your iPod from the Mac by clicking the "Eject" button in the File menu.
- 2). Open "Terminal" on your Mac in the "Applications/Utilities" folder. Type "defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles -bool true" and press the "Return" key on your keyboard. Type "killall Finder" and press "Return."
- 3). Type: "cd /Volumes/[YouriPodName]/iPod_Control" into Terminal. Replace "[YouriPodName]" with the name of your actual iPod. Click "Return."
- 4). Type "rsync -r Music ~/Desktop" and hit the "Return" key. Wait for the command to finish. A new folder will be on your Desktop titled "Music.
- 5). Drag the "Music" folder over the iTunes icon in the Dock or in the "Applications" folder. iTunes will import all of the songs.
- 6). Type "defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles -bool false" into "Terminal" and hit the "Return" key to restore all the hidden files. Type "killall Finder" and press "Return" for the effect to take place.
- 7). Select "Quit" from "Terminal"'s File menu.
