    • 1). Check the valve at the gas supply line next to the heater and make sure it's on if you're using a Trane gas heater. The shutoff valve at the furnace should also be in the "ON" position.

    • 2). Make sure your Trane heater is plugged into an electrical outlet and turned on if you're using an electric model. If it still will not turn on, inspect the circuit breaker for the furnace. If the breaker is tripped, flip it to the "ON" position.

    • 3). Check the thermostat settings if the heater is still not blowing hot air. Make sure it's set to heat. Increase the temperature and make sure it's higher than the room temperature displayed on the screen. Press the "Reset" button on your thermostat if it's not functioning properly.

    • 4). Remove the thermostat from its mounting bracket on the wall if you see a low battery warning on the screen. Open the battery compartment, take out the old batteries and replace them with fresh alkaline batteries. Trane thermostats use different types of batteries, depending on the model.

    • 5). Check the fan switch on the thermostat and make sure it's on. Select "Manual" if you want to adjust the fan speed yourself. Select "Automatic" if you want the thermostat to adjust the fan speed as necessary.
