    • 1). Choose 24 or more water-aspected creatures. "Yu-Gi-Oh!" indicates creature aspects with a symbol in the upper right hand corner of the card. Excellent choices include Abyss Soldier, Penguin Soldier and Gale Lizard for their abilities to send opposing threats back to an opponent's hand. Mermaid Knight can switch the attack or defense position of any remaining monsters, and Aqua Spirit gets to attack twice as long as an Umi card is in play.

    • 2). Add at least eight water-based spell cards. Spell cards in a water deck should focus on gaining cards or increasing the attack values of your water monsters. Umiiruka increases the attack values of all of your monsters, while decreasing their defense slightly. Moray of Greed lets you draw three additional cards and bring two of your own water creatures back to your hand for later play.

    • 3). Select eight or more trap cards to protect your water monsters or remove an opponent's most powerful creatures. Forgotten Temple of the Deep lets you preserve your monsters by removing them from play for a turn. Fish Depth Charge turns any of your water-monsters into a torpedo that can destroy almost any threat on the field.
