How to Reset Chips In an HP 56
- 1). Remove the HP 56 cartridge from the printer.
- 2). Position the cartridge so the gold contacts are facing you and are toward the bottom of the cartridge. Place a small piece of tape over the top gold contact on the second column from the left.
- 3). Place the cartridge into the printer. The printer prints a cartridge alignment page. Wait for the page to print.
- 4). Remove the cartridge from the printer. Place a small piece of tape over the top contact on the second column from the right. Leave the first piece of tape intact.
- 5). Place the cartridge in the printer. Wait for the alignment page to finish printing.
- 6). Remove the cartridge from the printer. Remove both pieces of tape and all tape residue from the gold contacts.
- 7). Place the cartridge back into the HP printer. The printer recognizes the cartridge as a new, full cartridge.
