Physico-Chemical Analysis of Water
- The amount of dissolved oxygen in a sample is measured in milligrams per liter with a dissolved oxygen kit.
- The temperature of the water is measured with a thermometer in either degrees Celsius or degrees Fahrenheit.
- The pH of water is measured with a pH meter. A pH of more than 7.0 indicates basic water, while a pH of less than 7.0 indicates acidic water.
- The color of water is measured by comparison and the odor by the use of the examiner's sense of smell.
- Total Hardness is measured in milligrams per liter of CaCO3 (calcium carbonate).
- Electrical Conductivity is a measure of the amount of salts in the water and is measured in milligrams per liter.
