How to Upgrade the BIOS Chipset for XP
- 1). Insert a DOS boot CD into your Windows XP computer.
- 2). Restart the computer. Press any key to boot into DOS.
- 3). Insert the disk from your computer manufacturer containing the BIOS flash utility and new BIOS file.
- 4). Type "x:" and press "Enter," where "x" is the letter of the drive containing the disk with the BIOS files.
- 5). Type the name of the flash utility given to you by the manufacturer (e.g., "awdflash.exe") and press "Enter."
- 6). Enter the name and location of the new BIOS file. For example, if the BIOS file is named "newBIOS.exe" in the "A" drive, you would type in "a:\newbios.exe" and press "Enter." This will update the BIOS.
