Casual Indian Lunch At Sree Krishna Inn
What you see - Sree Krishna Inn restaurant is located opposite TDM hall in the lane next to the Durbar hall ground in Cochin. The bright blue signboard and the slew of cars parked outside are a strong indication of its location.
From the outside the restaurant looks like an elegant and upmarket house. There are two grandfather chairs in a traditional Kerala house like sitout. From there you enter another room with a low lying divan and chairs in wood for waiting patrons.
What you get - Pure vegetarian North Indian and South Indian food is available at Sree Krishna Inn apart from a few Chinese dishes. This includes everything from soups and starters to main course including pulao, noodles, biryani, Indian bread and even ice creams and payasam as desserts.
If you are visiting it in the mornings or evenings, you should try the freshly prepared South Indian dishes like idlis, dosas (Masala dosa is recommended), vada, paniyaram (a steamed Chettinad dish), upma and so on. An interesting feature of this restaurant is that it serves pudina (mint) and coconut chammandi or chutney with every South Indian snack. Also, the sambar here is a typical Brahmin preparation with a mlange of tangy, sweet and spicy flavors.
For a complete meal, going North Indian is a good option. Here, the typical starters like Chilli gobi, Mushroom gobi and Chilli baby corn can be sampled. A range of curries with Paneer and Mixed vegetables can be had with Naan, Roti and Parothas or rice dishes like Biryani.
Our verdict Sree Krishna Inn is a good choice for light snacks or a complete meal. It is worth a try for casual lunches or breakfasts. The interiors are neat and well-designed. The food is served hot and service is quick. Parking could be a problem but many use the side streets if the space inside the restaurants compound is filled. Takeaway facility is available.
