Can You Watch a Movie From a USB Drive on a DVD Player?
- Newer model DVD players come with input methods other than the standard DVD. USB, FireWire® and SD cards can all be used with the right model DVD player.
- Most DVD players cannot read NTFS partitions, so a USB hard drive should be formatted in FAT32 in order to work with the player.
- Many DVD players can't read multiple partitions on a USB drive. Single partition USB drives are best for use with a DVD player.
- Many USB hard drives get their power from the USB port, and sometimes the USB port in the DVD player doesn't offer enough power to run the drive.
- Many DVD players only support specific file formats for playback. If the movie isn't saved as a file type the DVD player recognizes, the player will ignore it.
