I found out about this campground in the Idaho Farm Bureau Quarterly, and I cabin camped there in August 2007.

Describe your camping trip:

Private and secluded in the backwoods of north Idaho. The hosts have placed three canvas wall tent cabins on their 42 acres. Everything I needed to camp was provided. I only had to bring my clothes, food for dinner and ice. The kitchen had pots, plates, silverwate, hand-pumped water and the fixings for s'mores.


I had a private outhouse that was very cute with fresh flowers and pictures. Lots of wildlife. A moose walked right through my campsite.

Pros: Big, farm-style breakfast served at the hosts' solar-powered home. I was able to tour their garden, pet the goats, and feed the breakfast left-overs to the chickens. The hosts gave me complete privacy at my tent site. I was able to fully experience the backwoods of north Idaho.

Cons: none

Nearby attractions: I kayaked Johnson Creek, which empties into Lake Pend Oreille. I also hiked on the trails and met no one. This is a very private setting.

Further comments:

I am definitely going to return. Huckleberry Tent and Breakfast has the perfect mix of convenience, comfort and old-fashioned camping.
