Natural Timber Wood Blinds

Wood blinds made from American timber are gaining in popularity over faux wood blinds.
Faux wood was popular because it was cheap and considered to be better for the environment.
But the fact is that wood is a renewable resource, while the synthetic materials used in faux wood are not.
So natural timber wood blinds are making a resurgence, especially those cut in the US instead of a Brazilian rain forest.
As wooden blinds have had to compete against completely form-able synthetic shades, custom blinds companies have responded by making their shades more customizable.
You no longer need a carpenter to make custom blinds.
Now you can just go online, enter in your dimensions, wood and design requests, and get your blinds shipped to you.
In the United States, almost all lumber now harvested is from renewable or re-forested timber.
Gone are the days of strip clearing.
Now lumberjacks pick and choose trees and then plant replacements.
This means that cedar, and hardwoods like the North American basswood are easier to get.
Interior decorators really love this because now they can use whatever material they think fits in most with the decor.
Cherry, oak, or any other hardwood with the finish they choose.
Using wood instead of faux wood blinds actually increases the insulation capabilities of your window coverings.
Synthetic materials are denser, but are not as good at resisting heat change.
Because timber blinds can be finished with stains, paints and texturing, their uses are multiple.
Heavy dark wood blinds are great for stopping harsh sunlight.
While warm wood really brings out the tone of wooden furniture.
Of course the venetian wood blinds are not made of only wood.
The need a string or ribbon to control their movement and a headboard for mounting.
These pieces can be custom made in colors to match your interior as well.
Wood shades are not always the best choice for window coverings.
They are more expensive than cellular or aluminum blinds, and may not always fit modern decor.
Some wood is not sustainable like teak.
If you are concerned about the environmental impact of your home, make sure you confirm what kind of wood you use, and where it was harvested.
Natural wood is beautiful because it is unique.
It has splendid wood grain patterns, but it is also harder to get natural materials to fit into custom frames.
Natural wood will never be perfect.
So if you are really worried about having the right fit, consider ordering in person at the blind company shop instead of online.
