    • 1). Open all the doors on your GMC Sierra truck. (This includes the back doors for the extended cab version.)

    • 2). Locate the door striker plate and tracks on your GMC Sierra. On the inside of each door, (the part that is concealed when the doors are closed), there is a small opening with hardware inside it. On the opposite side of the door frame, there is the latch that the hardware secures itself around to keep the door closed while driving. These pieces are your door striker plate and tracks.

    • 3). Remove and dirt, debris or other build-up that is found on the door striker plate and tracks. If there is an immense build-up, you will need to use a cleaning solvent in order to loosen the grime.

    • 4). Apply the lubrication by taking your grease stick and rubbing it generously over the door striker plate and tracks.

    • 5). Close and open your door several times so that the lubrication spreads all over the hardware components of the door striker plate and tracks.

    • 6). Check to see if you have an excess lubrication build up. Sometimes when the door opens and closes, there is a build-up of lubrication where two pieces of metal touch. Wipe this excess away.

    • 7). Repeat this process on all other doors of your GMC Sierra.

    • 8). Follow the maintenance schedule for your GMC Sierra. GMC breaks its maintenance schedule into two sections. Lubrication of these parts falls under the Maintenance II which should be performed following a Maintenance I scheduling or at least once a year.
