How to Remove Black Tile Adhesive
- 1). Rent or purchase an electric hammer chisel with a scraper blade at your local home improvement or tool rental center.
- 2). Read all manufacturers' instructions and follow all warnings for the electric chisel.
- 3). Secure the scraper blade to the hammer chisel.
- 4). Switch the eclectic chisel to on when ready to begin.
- 5). Place the blade at the edge of the black tile glue. During the removal process the blade will move back and forth to push the adhesive free from the concrete.
- 6). Clean up the loosened adhesive with a broom and dust pan.
- 1). Open doors and windows during the process to provide adequate air ventilation.
- 2). Equip yourself with a dust mask and rubber gloves.
- 3). Apply a methylene chloride paint remover to the black tile adhesive. The paint remover will loosen the adhesive making it easier to remover.
- 4). Scrape the loosened adhesive with a paint scraper. Discard the adhesive.
- 5). Wash the tile or floor with soapy water to remove any adhesive residue. Allow to air dry.
