How Do I Undo Glued Edges on Laminate Flooring?
- 1). Press a heat gun up against the edges of the floor boards to loosen the adhesive underneath. Set the heat setting to at least 300 BTUs. Remove laminate strips or tiles in complete pieces, and set them aside for reuse in other flooring projects.
- 2). Dig a screwdriver under the corner of any one loose laminate panel. Chisel away the hardened glue underneath with a putty knife. Pry the panel off the floor with the forked side of a hammer until the panel is lifted up completely.
- 3). Rent a motorized floor stripper to do the work of prying the laminate panels off. This procedure is similar to step 2, but the machine does more of the manual labor. Push the metal knife on the machine under a laminate panel edge, and move back and forth as the machine cuts through the glue, prying the panels off the floor.
