How to Remove an Interior Door Panel on a 1968 Chevrolet Impala

    • 1). Open the door and use the screwdriver to remove the screws holding the door handle assembly to the door panel.

    • 2). Remove the window crank by wedging the trim removal tool underneath the base of the crank assembly and prying up on the window crank. The handle will slide right off its base, and you'll be left with a small hole in the door panel.

    • 3). Pry the door panel assembly off the frame by wedging the trim removal tool underneath the panel on the outside edges of the panel. Pry up on the panel and pull it off the door frame. You won't be able to pull the entire assembly off, but you must pull enough off the door frame so that you can access the door handle and locking mechanism.

    • 4). Reach behind the door panel, and remove the lock rod and latch hook from the door handle assembly. You should be able to just pull these out of the back of the door handle by lifting up on them.

    • 5). Pull the door panel off the door frame.
