How to Remove the Front Panel From a Compaq Presario 5300US

    • 1). Shut down any programs currently open on your Compaq Presario 5300US. Open the "Start" menu and select the "Shut Down" option.

    • 2). Unplug the power cable from the power port on the back end of the Compaq Presario 5300US. Remove each of the remaining cables for the other devices connected to the Presario, such as the keyboard, mouse, and monitor.

    • 3). Locate the first set of plastic tabs located on the right and left ends at the top of the computer's front panel. Push in both tabs. Move down and push in the second set of tabs positioned on the right and left side, which are located a few inches below the first set.

    • 4). Repeat the process with the third set of tabs, which are positioned a few inches below the second set. Grip both sides of the front cover and pull the cover off the Compaq Presario 5300US.

    • 5). Set the Compaq Presario 5300US on its left side, with the right side access panel facing upward, if you also need to remove the side access panel. Use a Phillips screwdriver to remove both the screws located on the far left end of the Presario 5300US's access panel

    • 6). Press down the side access panel gently. Grip the far left end of the panel and slide it towards the left. Pull the panel off the Compaq Presario 5300US.
