DIY Display Shelf
- Buy several pieces of wood that are perfectly square. Wood should measure between 6 by 6 inches and 8 by 8 inches. Square wood will fit into any corner in your home. Sand the wood and remove rough edges. Stain the wood with a water based or oil based wood stain. Paint the wood to match the decor in your home.
- Attach the display shelves in one corner of your room. The top shelf should be no higher than 12 inches from your ceiling, and shelves should be at least 8 inches apart. To attach, set the shelf into the corner of your room. Use L-shaped brackets and screws on both corners of the wood that are touching the corner of the room. Use L-shaped brackets on the sides of the shelves, as far out to the side as possible. Attach the L-shaped brackets from the bottom.
- Use shelves to display objects you do not want anyone to touch. Do not keep objects on the shelves that are more than 5 pounds, as the L-shaped brackets might not hold that weight.
