How to Disconnect a Water Supply to a Dishwasher

    • 1). Locate the point where the water supply line attaches to the home water system. This is commonly under the kitchen sink. The water supply line is attached to a valve that is part of the hot water line.

    • 2). Close the valve to prevent water from flowing down the water line. There will still be some water in the supply line, so place rags under the valve.

    • 3). Loosen the connection between the water supply line and the valve by rotating counterclockwise. The rags under the valve should catch water that flows back down the supply line as the connection is removed.

    • 4). Locate the end of the water supply that connects to the dishwasher. This is often located behind the kick plate panel at the base of the front of the machine. The kick plate is held in place by two to four screws.

    • 5). Unscrew the water supply line by rotating it counterclockwise.
