- The Sony HDR-SR11 records in the AVCHD (Advanced Video Coding High Definition) format, which uses less storage than other formats. The camcorder has a 12x optical zoom lens. The Panasonic SDR-H60 records in MPEG2 format and offers 50x optical zoom. Both camcorders have image stabilization.
- Users can snap photos on the Panasonic model but images are limited to 0.3-megapixels. The Sony HDR-SR11 can take 10.2-megapixel images.
- Swiveling LCDs on both camcorders offer adjustable viewing angles. The Sony's 3.2-inch, touchscreen LCD has 921,000 pixels of resolution. The resolution of the 2.7-inch LCD on the Panasonic has 123,200 pixels.
- The Sony camcorder's 60-gigabyte hard drive holds 7 hours,10 minutes of high-definition video. It also can use Sony's Memory Stick Duo and Pro Duo cards. The Panasonic camcorder also has a 60-GB drive and stores 14 hours of video at the highest-quality setting. It can use Secure Digital High Capacity (SDHC) cards.
