How to Troubleshoot a Whirlpool Duet GHW9150P
- 1). Look at the fuse box or circuit breaker box to make sure a fuse has not blown or the washer's circuit breaker been tripped if the washer will not run at all. Replace the fuse or reset the circuit breaker, if necessary. The power cord should be plugged in to a three-prong grounded outlet. Avoid using an extension cord, which could damage the washer.
- 2). Take care not to overload the washer if your clothes seem dingy at the end of the washing cycle. Make sure you have added enough HE detergent. Try washing clothes in warm or hot water if the fabric care instructions permit.
- 3). Leave the door of the Whirlpool Duet open if you smell a musty odor coming from the washer. If that does not solve the problem, use less HE detergent.
- 4). Remove the clothes from the washer as soon as the load is done if your clothes are wrinkling. Also avoid overloading the washer, washing clothes in cold water and using a low-speed wash cycle.
- 1). Use a level to check whether the washer is sitting properly on the floor if it seems to be off-balance or is noisy, vibrating or walking across the room. Place the level on each side of the top of the machine to see if it is level front to back, then place the level at the front and back of the top of the machine to see if it is level side to side. Adjust the leveling feet under the washer if necessary.
- 2). Check the floor to ensure it is it level and sturdy enough to hold the weight of a fully loaded washing machine. If not, repair the floor.
- 3). Look inside the washer to find any coins, toys or other metal objects that may have fallen out of pockets. These can make a surprising amount of noise.
- 4). Make sure the four shipping bolts at the back of the washer were removed when the washer was installed.
- 1). Examine the drain and the drain hose if the washer is leaking. The drain could be clogged or the drain hoses installed improperly.
- 2). Check the connections to the drain and to the water inlet hoses to make sure they are tight. Ascertain that the hoses are installed properly and the connections tight.
- 3). Reduce the amount of HE detergent you are using. These detergents are recommended for the Whirlpool Duet washer, but you must measure very carefully. Too much HE detergent can cause too many suds in the washer, and it could leak.
- 1). Check the water inlet valve screens to see if they are clogged if the washer does not fill with water.
- 2). Look at the valves that control water inflow to the washer; make sure they are in the "On" position.
- 3). Check to see if the drain hose or the house drain is clogged if the washer will not drain or spin.
- 4). Make sure the drain hose is correctly mated with the drain. There should be an air gap between the two, and the drain hose should have a U-shaped bend in it before it enters the drain.
