How to Open a Compaq Presario R3000
- 1). Shut the R3000 down and remove the power cord. Turn the laptop over and locate the battery release lever. This lever contains a picture of a lock. Slide that lever to the unlocked position and carefully remove the battery.
- 2). Locate the memory compartment on the bottom of the R3000 case. This compartment is located roughly in the center of the computer case.
- 3). Use a small screwdriver to open the memory compartment. Carefully pry the cover off the compartment to reveal the memory modules. Add or remove memory as you need to.
- 4). Locate the optical drive bay on the bottom of the R3000 case. This bay is located on the right-hand side as you look at the bottom of the unit.
- 5). Remove the screws from the bottom of the drive, then carefully lift the old drive out of the bay. Slide the new drive into place if needed and secure it with the same screws.
