    • 1). Shut the Portege 3505 down completely through the operating system. Remove the battery pack from the bottom of the computer, and place it face-down in front of you with the screen closed and all cables removed.

    • 2). Locate the square plastic door in the middle of the Portege 3505's underside. The door is secured by a single Phillips-head screw. Remove the screw and door, and set both items aside to reveal the Portege 3505 memory expansion slot. If the expansion slot does not have a memory module installed, skip to Step 4.

    • 3). Place a finger on the inside of both metal retainers holding the Portege 3505 memory module in place. Spread the retainers until the module lifts out of the slot. Slide the module out of the slot at an angle to avoid scratching the metal contacts on the bottom, and place it into the package or anti-static bag that the new memory module came in.

    • 4). Slide the new Portege 3505 memory module into the empty slot at an angle until the metal connectors on the bottom of the module are pushed in fully, and then press the top of the module down until the retainers click. Test the module to make sure that it feels solidly installed.

    • 5). Replace the square door on the bottom of the Portege 3505. Place the Phillips-head screw into the hole and screw the door down fully.

    • 6). Replace the Portege 3505 battery pack and any cables that you removed before beginning the upgrade.
