Problem

• Inspiron users have stated the HP 940C printer does not work or respond while processing a print request. There can be several issues associated with the printer. Problems can range from how the driver was installed on the system to a printer port problem.
  
  

Solution

• The solution is to load the driver from the original disk. The driver will not load using the "plug and play" feature in Windows. Make sure previous printer installations and profiles are deleted. If the driver is installed from a download, make sure the driver is the correct driver for the HP 970C and the print spooler is working.

• During the installation process, ensure all firewall software is "off." Firewall software will attempt to read the driver's ".dll" file designation and report the file as a virus. Many firewall programs will attempt to delete the file, which can result in a failed installation. During installation the printer port can be designated by the user.
