    • 1). Turn off the gas to a gas dryer or unplug an electric one. Move the dryer from its position at least 3 feet from the wall. This will give you room to work. Pulling the dryer out into an even more open space may make this easier.

    • 2). Push the putty knife in between the top and main body of the dryer on the front of the dryer. Slide the putty knife near the corner closest to you. Push the knife and pull up to release the pins that hold the top onto the body.

    • 3). Lift the top off the body using a screwdriver as a lever.

    • 4). Label the wires that are connected to the front of the dryer. Make note of which wire goes where. Unclip the wires from the clip that holds them, remove the wires and place them to the side. You will be reattaching these wires later. Be sure to mark them so that you can place them back in order later.

    • 5). Remove the screws that hold the fount of the dryer onto the rest of it. There should be four on most models.

    • 6). Pull the front towards you until the drum inside comes loose from its bearing. Slide the front panel up to reveal the pulleys at the bottom of the machine.

    • 7). Grab the idler pulley. It is the one in front of the motor. Move it to the right to disengage the belt. Remove the belt. Do not remove the belt that goes to the drum.

    • 8). Put on your gloves and slide the drum out of the dryer. Be sure to use hand protection as the edges may be sharp.

    • 9). Inspect the two rollers. If they appear damaged, or you find metal dust under them, your rollers need replacing.

    • 10

Remove the plastic clip on the right hand side if the right roller needs replacing. Remove the metal friction plate, metal brace and plastic clip on the left hand side if the left roller needs replacing.

    • 11

Put on the new rollers and reattach the parts you removed.

    • 12

Slide the drum back in and grab the idler pulley. Pull the pulley to the left until the belt is tight.

    • 13

Slide and screw the front into place and reattach the top.
