How to Make Slouchy Off-the-Shoulder Tops
- 1). Choose an old T-shirt that you no longer wear but still fits.
- 2). Lay the shirt out flat and line up the front and back.
- 3). Measure 1 inch up from where the sleeve starts (toward the neck) and make a 1-inch incision.
- 4). Repeat this on the other side.
- 5). Position your scissors inside the shirt and cut straight down into the center of the neckline. Cut as low as you want the shirt to be.
- 6). Cut from the slit in the left sleeve to the center and then repeat on the right side. Follow the shape of the original neck line to get an even shirt. Cut only through the front layer of the shirt, as you won't want such a deep scoop in the back.
- 7). Fold the piece of material that you just cut to the back and cut the back straight across. Cut the same way that you did in the front if you prefer a deep scoop in the back, but this may result in a shirt that falls completely off the arm.
- 8). Cut 1 inch off the end of each sleeve to achieve the same unfinished look as the neckline. Cut through the front and back side at the same time.
- 9). Even out the bottom of the shirt and cut off the seam. Again, cut through the front and back side at the same time. Decide how short you want your shirt to be by trying it on first and marking it with a washable marker.
