How to Cancel Out the Taste of Fish in Your Cooking
- 1). Remove the taste of fish from cooking oil that you want to reuse. Simply put sliced ginger in the pan and let it soak for 15 minutes on medium heat. Remove the ginger and the fishy taste should be gone from the oil.
- 2). Remove dark colored meat on the fish. Use a sharp knife to cut out dark areas, which would be the red areas on tilapia. Cut out the skin, which is where the dark meat is, from salmon.
- 3). Cook a breed of fish that minimally tastes fishy. Mild flavored fish are the perfect choice for some people. For instance, prepare a walleye, sole, flounder, cod or haddock.
- 4). Decrease the fishy smell and taste by preparing the fish with lemon. First rinse the fish with cold water. Then add lemon to the marinade that you put on the fish.
- 5). Place the fish in a bowl of milk. Let the fish soak for half an hour to cancel out the fishy taste. Drain the milk before preparing the fish.
