Must Try Fall Trends Under $50: Plaid
Plaid is one of the biggest fall 2014 trends. Whether it is plaid shoes, coats, shirts, scarves, dresses or accessories, plaid is everywhere!
Below you will find some of our favorite plaid looks that cost less than $50.
Blazers are an easy way to add some pizazz to any outfit. Throw a blazer on over a sheath dress or with a pencil skirt for an instant office look, or throw one on with a pair of jeans to create an instantly business casual outfit. This fall we recommend pairing this Tailored Plaid Blazer ($34.99 at Target) with a pair of jeans and some loafers for a look that will look just as good at the office as it will running errands or grabbing weekend brunch.
We recently shared some lovely commuter bags under $100 and this Highlands Black and Red Plaid Tote ($44 at Lulu's) is another one that should be considered. It is large enough to carry all of one's daily essentials and features both a handle and shoulder strap. Plus, the lovely black, red, white and gray plaid hits all of the right fall notes.
The plaid on this Plaid-Panel Cocoon Sweatshirt ($44.95 at Gap) is a more subtle with the plaid, but that only means you will be able to wear this shirt long after plaid goes out of style! The bright red color is fun for fall and the cocoon style will be super cozy!
While plaids of all ilk are popular this fall, we are seeing red buffalo plaid (a chunkier red and black plaid) EVERYWHERE. This Buffalo Plaid Boyfriend Shirt ($26.94 at Old Navy) would look super chic with a pair of black jeans.
For plaid that can be worn to the office (depending on the dress code), look no further than this Plaid Pencil Skirt ($50 at JCPenney). It could be paired with a plain black or white tee or blouse, or dressed up a bit with the addition of a black blazer.
This could also be a good skirt to have on hand as we get closer to the holidays. It is festive enough for Thankgiving or Christmas dinner without being too over-the-top.
Rain boots are an inevitable necessity during the fall and also a fun way to show off some personal style. These Western Chief Lumber Plaid Boots ($29.99 at 6pm.com) look super cute but will also keep your feet dry should you find yourself splashing through any puddles.
Plaid scarves are always available, whether or not plaid is trendy is not. This year, however, there are so many super stylish plaid scarves on the market and many of them are quite affordable! We recommend checking out Forever21 for any plaid scarf needs. That is where we found this chic Buffalo Plaid Woven Scarf for just $6!
We saved the best for last because we are absolutely loving this Black and White Plaid Fit and Flare Dress ($24.99 at Target). We think it would be the perfect dress to have on hand for date night or cocktail parties! Once the temperatures begin to drop pair it with a cardigan or blazer and a pair of tights for all-season wear.

A Little Bit of Plaid Goes a Long Way
As much as we love this fall's plaid trend, a little bit of plaid goes a long way, which is why we recommend picking up an accent piece or two for those who want to try the trend without breaking the bank.
