Pecan of Windsor Ruin
You are looking at Windsor through a pecan tree that shades the front yard. This native "Carya illinoensis" probably existed before the Windsor fire.
The Windsor mansion was designed by David Shroder and built using slave labor. Windsor Plantation at one time covered 2,600 acres with easy access to transportation provided by the Mississippi River.
Bricks used in the 29 columns supporting the roof were made in a kiln across the road from the house. The columns were then covered with mortar and plaster which you can see in some of my photos. A projecting roof line provided protection for the galleries that circled the house at the second and third levels.
