Model rocketry has always been a fascinating hobby for devotees. A model rocket motor is not a toy, but rather a real rocket, producing thrust. Many rocket engines, however, are not reusable. AeroTech/RCS solved this problem by developing a re-loadable rocket engine, called the RMS-RC, and makes the components available so many can enjoy model rocketry. AeroTech states this rocket motor is ideally suited for rocket-powered gliders and radio-control cars.

    Liner Tube

    • A liner tube is included in the reload kit. This is the outermost part of the motor, and it fits inside the motor case. It has an outside diameter of 1 1/8 inches.

    Propellant

    • A premeasured amount of propellant is included with the kit. This is a solid fuel rocket, and the propellant is what burns to create the thrust. The propellant itself is a solid cylinder, and should be inserted into the liner according to the supplied directions.

    O Ring

    • The O ring seals the propellant to the nozzle. This part is critical to install, since it prevents the flame from exiting anywhere else other than the nozzle. It is installed between the propellant and the nozzle, sealing tightly against the liner.

    Nozzle

    • The nozzle shapes the flame, so it is concentrated straight out the back of the motor. It is a disposable plastic part, so it can only be used one time. The nozzle screws into the case, so AeroTech recommends using the supplied grease or a light coating of petroleum jelly on the threads.
