Problems With Verizon AirCards
- Aircards give you Internet mobility, but there are issues.internet image by Alexander Kosenkov from Fotolia.com
Verizon AirCards allow users to connect to high-speed Internet anywhere where there is an Verizon cellular signal. However, there are some problems with the service that should be considered before purchasing. - Although there is connectivity wherever there is a Verizon wireless signal, signal strength differs from place to place, causing the aircard to disconnect frequently and run slowly in certain areas. In some areas, the connection may be so slow that websites cannot load. This can be very annoying, making it almost impossible to navigate on the Internet or chat with someone on an IM program.
- The aircards can be expensive, with each card ranging from $70 to $200. This is just the cost of the device; data plan costs can reach as high as $60. Users can take steps to lower the cost of the service, such as by choosing limited Internet monthly use, which only allows a user to use the Internet for a certain number of hours a month, or purchasing limited-time use of just a few days or weeks.
- Unless a user purchases an unlimited data plan, the plans are limited for Internet access, and additional charges will be applied if the limit is exceeded. These over-the-limit charges can quickly add a great deal to the cost of the aircard, so a user has to constantly be aware of how much time is spent on the Internet.
