Placing your Furniture in a Way That Works

Your Furniture can be arranged in many different ways, and many of them will give a different feel to the room. A placement strategy is simply a way of trying things differently to give you the arrangement you want. The two most common layout designs is the triangle and the square. In order to use the triangle design you will need three major pieces of furniture for the room, imagine that they form a triangle and place them accordingly. The square design is used with either three or four types of big pieces of furniture, with four pieces the furniture is places in the corner of an imaginary square. The five pieces square is the same but one piece, usually the most prominent is placed in the middle. This is only the tip of the iceberg as you can allow your designs to envelop any arrangement of shapes.

Adding a Mood

Designers might know about lighting, and colors, but only the great ones design for mood. Each room has a mood, meaning that there are some underlying purposes for which you would have that room. An example is that you would have a kitchen to eat, have conversation, relax, cook etc. One more example would be the bedroom, the most personal quarters, and is designed for only one person. Great dollhouses are no different. To help you get in the mood setting, picture the room and the feelings that emanate from that room, then design colors, furniture, and styles to match that setting. The more you can portray the appropriate move, the more you will convince your friends and family your great skills as a miniaturist.

Using an Artists Color Wheel for your Benefit

Color will be the over ruling design medium for your dollhouse furniture and design choices. Now you dont have to be a professional artist to understand color, the basic level of matching colors begins with the color wheel. When you are looking at a color wheel, it looks almost like someone took a rainbow and connected the arch into a circle. The colors right next to each other are called analogous colors, and offer slight similarities for color patterns, and those opposite offer the most contrast and pop. This by no means is a full explanation of the science of color, but a mere push to get you thinking in the right direction for your dollhouse coordination.

Choosing the Right Style Can Help Your Design

Creating style can be more intense than what you have previously thought, what era will your dollhouse resemble? When you are contemplating your dollhouse design, remember that you are not just picking a room at a time, but the time frame or era in which they were created. This will be your style choice or theme for your house. Victorian, Modern, and Traditional, though they are not the only choices, are the major players with dollhouse manufacturers - lets look at each one. If you are more of a romantic you will choose the Victorian theme, because it resembles a tasteful past, fluid curves, and astounding furniture pieces. If you want to stand out or go with a more up to date style, Modern design will give you simplicity, technology, and some great straight lined pieces. Traditional furniture doesn't have a lot of pep, but the selection is great - this will fit any dollhouse and can be used at times in matching Modern or Victorian styles.
