How to Make a Homemade Centerpiece
- 1). Find two vases, or a vase and a drinking glass. The smaller vase or glass will need to fit inside the larger one with a gap of at least an inch between them and should be slightly shorter.
- 2). Place the smaller container inside the larger one, making sure that it is centered exactly in the middle.
- 3). Fill the outer vase with small, red cinnamon candies all the way to the top of the smaller vase.
- 4). Add enough water to the smaller vase to fill it about halfway.
- 5). Gather two dozen tulips and wrap a rubber band around the stems to hold them together. Lay them on the side and cut the stems so that they are all the same size and will fit properly in the vase.
- 6). Place the tulips in the smaller vase. If needed, add more water to the vase. The centerpiece will stay fresh for about a week as long as fresh water is added when needed.
- 1). Collect mason jars or food jars of various sizes. Wash the jars with hot, soapy water and remove any labels. Dry the jars thoroughly.
- 2). Wrap colored tissue paper around each jar so that it covers the entire jar. Secure the ends of the paper to the jar with clear tape.
- 3). Fill each jar 2/3 of the way with water and arrange cut flowers in each one.
- 4). Group the jars in the center of the table. Experiment with different positions until you find one that you like the best.
