How to Burn an AVI on Disc
- 1). Check the size of the AVI file to make sure it will fit on the desired disc. For a CD, the file size must be under 700 megabytes. For a single layer DVD, the file must be four gigabytes or less.
- 2). Open the CD/DVD burning software and navigate to the file you wish to burn. Depending on the disc type you selected, you can choose to burn a data CD, a data DVD or a video on DVD. Choose the data CD or DVD if you only wish to transport or keep a backup of the file, as this can be read only on computers and game consoles. Choose to burn a movie of the file on DVD if you want it to play in a DVD player.
- 3). Insert the disc into the drive and give the disc a name. By default, most applications will burn a file at the highest speed the disc will allow. You can configure these speed settings differently in the preferences before burning if you'd like to burn the disc at a slower speed. Sometimes this will facilitate a more accurate burn of the disc, depending on the brand of CD you're using and the CD burning suite you have on the computer.
- 4). Select the "Burn" command to burn the file onto the disc. Make sure you close any other programs or applications currently running on the computer, as these can lower the quality of the final product.
- 5). Remove the disc from the drive when the software alerts you of its completion. Label the disc with the marker; usually there are lines showing you the proper area to write on the disc.
