How do I Repair a Maytag Dryer Belt?

    • 1). Slide the putty knife under the top panel in the front of the dryer. Move the knife back and forth to locate the internal clips on each side. Press the blade of the putty knife into each clip to unlock it.

    • 2). Lift the top panel up until it comes to a stop on its rear hinges.

    • 3). Remove the screws securing the top of the front panel to the Maytag dryer cabinet. Unplug the electrical connector leading to the front panel. Set the front panel aside.

    • 4). Pull the idler pulley toward you to relieve belt tension. Slide the old belt off the pulleys and drum.

    • 5). Loop the new belt around the drum. Position the other end around both pulleys.

    • 6). Reposition the front panel. Plug the electrical connector into its socket. Replace the screws on the top of the panel.

    • 7). Lower the top panel down onto the dryer cabinet.
