How to Make a Sleepover Room
- 1). Set up a loft bed with a futon underneath. This setup is a permanent arrangement that can double as a sleep-study space. The loft bed is where your child sleeps, and the futon underneath provides sitting space while studying or hanging out with friends. On the night of the sleepover, the loft bed will fit your child and a friend, and the futon can be folded down to make another bed for two. Additionally, some loft beds are built bunk bed style, which also adds another bed.
- 2). Gather items like air mattresses or egg crate foam to create extra sleep space. Most of the time these items can be rolled up and stowed away in a closet until it's time for the sleepover. Don't forget to have extra blankets and pillows on hand the night of the sleepover.
- 3). Create a snack area in the corner of the room. Set up a mini-fridge or ice chest for sodas and juices. Put dry perishable items like tins of popcorn, granola bars or red licorice on the shelves of a bookcase. Be sure to provide a garbage can for the wrappers.
- 4). Put together a TV-video game area. Watching movies or playing games count as common slumber party activities. If your child's bedroom doesn't normally have an entertainment area bring in a roll away TV stand with shelves underneath. Store videos and games in the compartments in the storage shelf area. Make sure you have plenty of controllers for video games. Also, if the children who are visiting plan on bringing their own videos and games ensure that each item is labeled with their name on both the video or game plus the box.
- 5). Plug in a couple of nightlights in the bedroom and hallway to the bathroom. Kids who are unfamiliar with your house may feel unsure about the layout in the middle of the night if they need to use the bathroom.
