My HP Scanner Is Not Connecting
- 1). Check the USB data cable running from the HP scanner to the computer. If the cable is not completely inserted into both connection ports, the data stream is not going to reach your HP scanner.
- 2). Disconnect the USB data cable from the USB port on the computer, then insert it into a different USB connection on the system. Some USB ports eventually die out, while others simply don't read certain hardware. Changing the connection might fix either of these issues.
- 3). Install the drivers provided with the scanner. If the drivers are not installed, the system is unable to detect the connected hardware. Insert the driver installation CD into the disc drive and wait for the installation wizard to load onto the screen. Follow the prompts of the wizard, then choose "Install" to install the drivers onto the computer.
- 4). Restart the computer. Performing a restart corrects many issues with a computer, including connection issues. Once the computer has powered back on, turn on the HP scanner. When the HP scanner powers up, the computer should state that it has detected the connected scanner.
