Travan Cleaning Tape Instructions
- 1). Turn the power on and insert the Travan cleaning cartridge into the drive so that its metal plate faces downward.
- 2). Push the cartridge in as far as it goes for Travan 20 drives, or push it gently into the drive until the drive grabs it and draws it fully into the drive for Travan 40 drives.
- 3). Wait eight seconds or so until the drive activity light goes off or stops blinking; on some drives the light will remain on if the cleaning cartridge has been used too many times. Dispose of an overused cartridge immediately and begin the process again with a fresh cartridge.
- 4). Remove the cartridge by grasping its exposed sides and pulling it out gently from your Travan 20 drive or by pressing the eject button, grasping its exposed sides and gently pulling it out once if has disengaged from the mechanism of your Travan 40 drive.
- 5). Write the date on which you cleaned your heads on the cartridge label with a felt tip pen.
- 6). Place the cleaning cartridge in its protective case.
- 7). Repeat the cleaning process once a week or after every eight hours of use if you use your drive more than three hours a day, or twice as often if you use it frequently in a dust-filled environment.
