    • 1). Open the back of the picture frame and remove the cardboard insert and the backing, leaving the glass or Plexiglas intact. Use Plexiglas when making dry erase boards for children.

    • 2). Use scissors to cut a piece of fabric slightly larger than the cardboard insert from the picture frame. Use any fabric scraps you have available, or choose one from the fabric store that matches the theme of the room where you will hang the board.

    • 3). Lay the fabric flat on a hard surface. Position the cardboard insert on the center of the fabric. Pull the excess fabric over the back of the cardboard and use heavy-duty tape to secure the edges.

    • 4). Place the fabric-covered insert inside the frame, with the fabric facing out of the glass. Replace the frame backing.

    • 5). Use dry erase markers to write on your homemade dry erase board. Wipe clean with a dry paper towel or cloth.
