How to Patch a Laminate Floor
- 1). Remove the floor trim, using the hammer and pry bar, from the closest parallel wall to the repair area, and from the two perpendicular walls. Remove it carefully, without breaking it, so you can reinstall it at the end.
- 2). Pull up the floorboards one by one, separating them by tugging out to the side so the tongue-and-groove connectors come apart (the first course will have a gap by the wall that will allow you to move it). Start this at the parallel wall.
- 3). Continue pulling up the floorboards, course by course, working your way toward the damaged area. Lay each floorboard right where it is after you take it out, so you can put them all back together at the end in the same order.
- 4). Remove the damaged boards, replace them with the new boards, and put the floor back together in the opposite manner that you took it apart, working your way toward the wall.
- 5). Reinstall your floor trim, using your trim nailer.
