How to Get Creases Out of Vinyl Flooring
- 1). Remove the vinyl flooring at least 3 inches back from the crease. Use a sharp utility knife to cut a straight line, then remove the material using a crowbar.
- 2). Mix the floor-leveling compound in a large bucket according to the package directions. Leveling compound is available at hardware and home improvement stores. Pour the leveling compound over the lower section of the floor; gravity will level the mixture. Allow the package-recommended drying time before proceeding.
- 3). Measure and carefully cut the piece of vinyl flooring needed to cover the leveled floor area. Match any patterns as closely as possible. Rest the end of the new vinyl against the existing flooring edge to make sure it fits, then use flooring adhesive to attach the new vinyl. Spread the adhesive in a thin layer using a small trowel. Wipe any excess adhesive from edges and seams with a damp cloth.
- 4). Apply a thin bead of vinyl sealant to the neighboring edges of flooring. Smooth the sealant flat using a putty knife. The seam will be unnoticeable once the sealant dries.
