What Is the Compaq Presario SR2023WM?
- The Compaq Presario SR2023WM's motherboard is the A8M2N-LA from Taiwan-based computer technology company ASUSTeK Computer Inc. It contains the AM2 socket that houses the Athlon 64 3500+. This processor has a 2.2-gigahertz processing speed and connects with the motherboard at a data transfer rate of 2 GHz, which translates into 2,000 million transfers per second. A gigabyte of system memory is pre-installed in one of the two memory module sockets that the ASUS A8M2N-LA offers, although users can expand it to 2 GB by installing another module in the unoccupied slot.
- Each Compaq Presario SR2023WM has a Serial Advanced Technology Attachment-connected 160-GB hard drive, which spins at a speed of 7,200 revolutions per minute. The optical drive is a CD/DVD combo that accommodates the "+" and "-" DVD recordable formats; supports dual-layer discs; and is compatible with LightScribe technology; which involves etching disc labels with lasers. The desktop's audio and video/graphics capabilities come from controllers that are integrated into the ASUS motherboard.
- The data/fax modem of the Compaq Presario SR2023WM generates a maximum data transmission rate of 56 kilobits per second. Also included is an integrated 10/100 Base-T wired networking (or Ethernet) interface, which provides up to 100 megabits per second in data transfer. The modem comes with an RJ-11 jack, while the Ethernet has an RJ-45 connector.
- At the front of the Compaq Presario SR2023WM are a 9-in-1 digital media adapter for flash memory brands such as Secure Digital, Compact Flash, Memory Stick, MultiMediaCard and xD Picture Card; two USB ports; and a headphone jack. At the rear are two more USB ports; Video Graphics Array output for the desktop's monitor; PS/2 connectors for the computer keyboard and mouse; and line-in, line-out and microphone jacks. There are two Peripheral Component Interconnect slots and one PCI Express x16 slot for expansion cards, and the unoccupied 3.5- and 5.25-inch drive bays are for adding an extra diskette drive and optical drive, respectively.
