    Removal

    • 1). Open the Device Manager from the Control Panel. You might have to click "Hardware and sound" before the Device Manager becomes available.

    • 2). Click the "+" next to "Sound, video and game controllers" to expand the menu, then right-click on your sound card driver and choose "uninstall." Follow any other onscreen instructions to remove the driver.

    • 3). Shut down your computer, unplug it and remove all cables, then open the computer case.

    • 4). Electrically ground yourself by wearing an electrostatic discharge (ESD) wrist strap that clips to bare metal on the computer case. If you don't have an ESD wrist strap, touch the bare metal on the case before you touch any components inside the computer.

    • 5). Remove the PCI sound card by removing the retaining screw attaching the back of the card to the rear of the computer case and pulling the card up and out of its PCI slot. If your PC uses an integrated sound controller, omit this step.

    Installation

    • 1). Push the Encore Electronics sound card firmly into the PCI slot and attach the screw at the back of the card to secure it.

    • 2). Close the computer case and reconnect all cables including speakers. Follow the color coding of the outputs on the Encore Electronics sound card to connect the speakers and restart the computer.

    • 3). Click "Cancel" if your computer tries to automatically install sound drivers. The manufacturer recommends using its drivers instead, so load the sound card's installation CD in the CD drive and run the setup file.

    • 4). Follow the onscreen instructions and restart the computer when the installation is complete.
