Grants for Fire Department Training Facilities
- The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) offers a Station Construction Grants program. Funding is awarded annually on a competitive basis for building or enlarging facilities to serve firefighter needs and enhance safety.
- U.S. Division of Forestry funds are used for wildfire training and equipment but can be put toward training facilities for fighting forest fires.
- Department of Homeland Security grant funding for firefighters includes Urban Search and Rescue and Hazardous Materials training facilities, gear and heavy equipment. Funds are awarded annually on a competitive basis with oversight by regional offices of FEMA.
- FEMA Safety Response Grant programs offer monetary awards directly to fire departments to increase training facilities and education for both professional and volunteer firefighters.
- Assistance to Firefighters grants are administered by FEMA and provide funding for fire departments that need equipment, training areas, emergency vehicles and protective gear. Projects that will increase the safety of the public and offer firefighter training receive top priority.
