Cheap Crafts to Make
- Plaques and wall-hung crafts are created from plaster of Paris, sand, four small boards and a short sided box. The board are used to keep the edges of the plaque or wall hanging straight. Sand and found objects are added to the box; first add the sand, and then the found objects. Plaster of Paris is poured into the box and allowed to dry. When the plaster of Paris dries, the boards are removed and the plaque is lifted from the box. The found objects will leave an indentation in the plaster of Paris. If hanging hooks are desired, u-shaped wire paper clips are formed and placed into the hardening plaster of Paris.
- Paperweights are created the same way as the plaques, but in a smaller box; however, broken pottery or dishes are added to the plaster of Paris for interest, then sanded smooth.
- Beautiful flowers in any shape are created with air-dry clay. Petals are individually cut out with a craft knife and wrapped around a wire, then pressed together at the base, sealing the clay together. Acrylic paint is worked into the clay first, or the clay flowers may be painted after the air-dry clay hardens.
- Driftwood found by a river makes the perfect stick incense holder. A small hole is drilled into the driftwood and voilà.
. - Painted coffee cans make unique pen holders for your desk area. Coffee cans are painted with a solid color of white, then painted with any design or image desired. The painted cans are allowed to dry, then sprayed with polyurethane.
